Driving is the preferred method of choice for most visitors to our vast region. This is particularly great for those avid adventurers who enjoy the journey as much as the destination. Travelling by road is often the best way to see and experience our extensive outback regions and get the real flavour of the land and the amazing people who live and work here.
As the City is the transport hub of the Goldfields, there is a good network of sealed roads linking Kalgoorlie Boulder with Perth, Esperance, Northern Goldfields, Murchison and Gascoyne regions. There is also an extensive range of unsealed roads, some are in better condition than others, so it is always a good idea to speak with your local Visitor Centre to get up to date information on the status of the roads. More information can also be found at www.mainroads.wa.gov.au
Further to this, you may need to obtain correct permits if you wish to travel on Aboriginal Lands or enter WA National Parks. Information on Aboriginal Land Permits can be found at www.daa.wa.gov.au and information on WA National Parks can be found at www.dpaw.wa.gov.au
