The Museum of the Goldfields showcases the rich history of the Eastern Goldfields and the city’s mining heritage. Discover the unique role the town has played in WA’s development, both as a centre of mining and its place at the edge of the Nullarbor Plain. Explore the largest display of the State’s collection of gold bars and nuggets, step back in time to see how prospectors searched for this precious metal and learn about the life and hardships faced by mining families during the early 1900's.

Description

Find out how mining has played a large part in the development of the region and the State since gold was discovered in the Eastern Goldfields in 1887. Explore our range of unique buildings and displays, such as the 1930s Miners Cottage, Woodline Police Office and the British Arms Hotel. See the splendour of mining entrepreneur Claude DeBernale's Perth office and Kalgoorlie boardroom from the early 1900s. Learn about the Western Woodlands and see the city from the viewing platform on the Ivanhoe Headframe.
