Round the Rocks Tour
The woodlands south of Coolgardie offer a natural eucalypt experience .Dissected by narrow gauge rail system from the 1900’s so that timber could be provided for the emerging gold rush. Now in regeneration mode it is returning to its former glory. Granite rock lined catchments were impressively engineered to divert water into dams for the locomotives. Burra Rock and Cave Hill are classic examples of this. The cave at Cave Hill is a registered indigenous site so care must be taken when viewing the rock art.

Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre & Working Base
Situated at the Kalgoorlie Boulder airport, the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Kalgoorlie is both a Visitor Centre and working base. Each year it provides approximately 6,500 visitors to the Goldfields with an extraordinary insight into the work of one of Australia's truly legendary organisations.

The recently refurbished Visitor Centre incorporates the Roger Waller Theatre, Doc Shop and great interactive and informative displays. B
ookings are not necessary for daily tours, although if you have a large group of people, e.g. a tour coach group, club or school group, bookings are encouraged.

Upon arrival you will be greeted by a friendly and informative tour guide who will invite visitors into the Roger Waller Theatre for some fantastic footage and real life accounts of those who have used the Royal Flying Doctor
Service, followed by an exclusive insight into the establishment and operations of the RFDS today. As a special treat where possible, the tour will extend to the heritage WWII hangar where visitors will be able to get up close and personal with state of the art aircraft.

The Kalgoorlie Royal Flying Doctor Service welcomes visits from school groups, pre-primary through to tertiary. There is no better way to bring classroom studies to life than to experience first hand, a living tutorial. Students will leave the RFDS Kalgoorlie Visitor Centre with an understanding of our founder, John Flynn’s incredible accomplishment in bringing together radio, medicine and aviation to overcome the ‘tyranny of distance’ which the vast and remote outback presented its inhabitants early last century. School group tours also involve age appropriate activities.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service Kalgoorlie Visitor Centre is located at the Kalgoorlie Airport (turn left at the roundabout). They are open Monday to Friday 10:00am - 3:00pm with regular tours taking place at 10:15am and 2:00pm. Entry is by gold coin donation.
Tours costs:
Children under 4 are free.
If there is an aircraft in the hanger: $5 per pseon.
If no aircraft in the hanger $3.00 per person.
For more information or group bookings please contact (08) 9093 7595. Please note they are closed weekends, public holidays.
